On a Wick & a Prayer - The Candle Makers of Derbyshire

On a Wick & a Prayer are designers and manufacturers of quality British candles. Over the past 15 years we have steadily built a reputation for quality and innovation in design. Situated right at the Heart of England our location is reflected in our products which are only made in the Peak District and use only British sourced products.

On a Wick was started by Annie Maudling, who still oversees all aspects of the business, and is still run as a family business with a dedicated team of skilled artisan candle makers who have all been trained by Annie personally to produce all of On a Wick’s quality products. We also have a shop at our workshop in the Village of Tissington, Derbyshire. See opening times and directions below:



Opening Times for 2020

SHOP REOPENING ON 4th JULY 2020

Open Wednesday to Friday 10am til 5pm
Open weekends - Sat/Sun 11am til 4pm

We are always open on Bank Holiday Monday from Midday til 5pm

Directions from Ashbourne

Follow the A515 Ashbourne road for approximately four miles, you will see the Blue-Bell Inn on your left, the turn for Tissington is approx. 100 yrds on your right. Follow the private road through parkland and continue over the cattle grid. The On a Wick candle workshop is located approximately 50 yards after the cattle grid on the right hand side. Directions from Buxton Follow the A515 Buxton to Ashbourne road for approximately 16 miles. At the crossroads, turn left onto Tissington Park (just before the Bluebell pub on the A515). Continue through the park and over the cattle grid. The candle workshop is located approximately 50 yards after the cattle grid on the right hand side.
